AwesomeToyBlog’s Holiday Gift Guide Day #4 – the Transformers fan

With the holiday season now upon us, it can be difficult to find the right gifts for the fan in your life. Now in it’s second year, the AwesomeToyBlog Awesome Holiday Gift Guide is my opportunity to spotlight some fantastic products that make perfect gifts. Today I’ll be providing some recommendations for the Transformers fan in your life, these will be robots in disguise as fantastic presents.

One of my favorite Hasbro toy releases for the year is the new, limited edition, G2 coloring of the Fall of Cybertron Bruticus figure. Based on the character’s appearance in this year’s massively huge video game, Fall of Cybertron, this gift set includes all five Combaticons with color schemes inspired by the early 1990 ‘G2 Transformers’. This set is a shared exclusive meaning you can order either from Amazon or Big Bad Toy Store – both establishments are charging $59.99.

Maybe the Transformers fan in your life is a G1 purist – and only want things just as they were in the 80s, if that’s the case, I want to recommend the newest addition to the Transformers: Masterpiece line – Sideswipe. This highly detailed Transformers collectible, looks like he stepped out of the cartoon, is a little expensive as he’s a Japanese import. But once he’s in the hands of a Transformers fan, they’ll be grinning ear to ear. He’s an amazing toy, nearly perfect. This is one piece that I picked up myself and love! You can grab him at various Transformers shops on-line, including Big Bad Toy Store.

My final Transformers recommendation is something for the fan of the 80’s animated series, and while those episodes have been available on DVD a few times over the past few years, Shout Factory! has been doing an incredible job releasing DVD sets of the series that follow up the original show in Japan. Each of these three sets; Headmasters, Victory and Super God Masterforce, feature the original Japanese language tracks with English subtitles.  Priced around $20 for each set, they’re a steal – many fans have never seen these shows, much less the completed sets. Shout Factory! does a great job and these are awesome releases!
