The premiere data for the latest Star Wars animated series, Star Wars Rebels has been announced as October 3rd. The hour-long debut will air on the Disney channel at 9PM ET/PT. The premeire will then repeat on Disney XD on Monday, October 6th before settling into it’s regular time slot – Mondays at 9PM on Disney XD. The premiere will be available for digital purchase starting October 4th with a DVD release planned for October 14th.
The creative team behind Star Wars Rebels includes executive producers Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Greg Weisman (The Spectacular Spider-Man) and Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past) with the series taking place 5 years before the original Star Wars film. Nestled between trilogies, much of the pre-series focus has been on the Ralph McQuarrie inspired designs – the artist behind the concept artwork of the original trilogy. The series features voice work by Freddie Prinze Jr. as the lightsaber wielding Kanan, Vanessa Marshall as the Hera, Steve Blum as Zeb (based on Chewbacca concept art), Tiya Sircar as Sabine, Taylor Gray as Ezra, David Oyelowo as Agent Kallus and Jason Isaacs as the Inquisitor.
