Gentle Giant has announced their final SDCC exclusive for this year – a 1:8 scale R2-KT maquette. R2-KT was created by Albin Johnson, the founder of the 501st Legion, who wanted a pink astromech droid for his daughter Katie who was dying from brain cancer. While Katie has sadly passed, her spirit lives on as R2-KT now makes appearances at children’s hospitals, Star Wars celebration and assorted charity events. From the sale of each maquette, Gentle Giant will donate $10 to the San Diego Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Limited to 500, each maquette is individually numbered and include a certificate of authenticity. R2-KT is available now for pre-order for Premium Guild members and is priced at $80.
