Now with the rest of Bandai’s Toy Fair coverage (see the previous post for Power Ranger) here’s all the news on Ben 10, Godzilla, Thundercats and PacMan.
Ben 10: Coming this year is the 4th Ben 10 series: Ben 10 Omniverse which will include the adventure of a teenage Ben and includes a flash back to 10 year old Ben. The toy range will include new basic figures and 7″ vinyl alien figures. Ben’s also getting a new modular playset of of his command center. The center of the playset is the ‘Intergalactic Plumber Command Center’, which makes up the bulk of the playset. Smaller playsets – the labrotory, training center and jail all connect to the command center to make a huge Ben 10 playset. Vehicles in the line include Rook’s (Ben’s new sidekick) Proto-Craft and Ben’s Nuetron cycle.
Also in the 2012 line is a new Omnitrix featuring touch sensors and other role play toys.
Godzilla: Bandai has 2 Godzilla lines for 2012. Their 6.5″ soft vinyl line includes Gigan, Godzilla 1968, Mecha Godzilla 1st, Rainbow Mothra, Burning Godzilla and Millennium Godzilla in two versions each – a normal deco and a clear version.
The Tokyo Vinyl collection features a trendy take on the Tokyo’s most famous giant lizard. There are three characters will be Godzilla 2004, Mecha Godzilla and Godzilla the First and sized at 5.5″.
Thundercats: The new Thundercats material on display were all the pieces that were announced towards the end of last year including the new Mumm-Ra, Panthro, Claudus and Lion-O figures. New deluxe figures include Panthro and Slithe. In the 6 inch scale are new series Tygra and Cheetara and Classics Lion-O and Mumm-Ra.
Other new pieces on display were the Armor of Omens, the Tiger Fighter with Tygus, Mumm-Ra’s Storm Charger and new role play items.
PacMan: Towards the fall of 2012, Bandai will be introducing a ‘play and play’ PacMan game using the original Namco code – including the glitched 256th level. One of the great features of this game is that there’s a playing mode that takes you right to level 255, finish that and the 256th level and you’ve beat PacMan. Bandai’s done a great job designing this piece, from the use of the original joystick form factor, including cord storage and allowing for multiple display opportunities – this is a nice looking game.
