My last appointment for Toy Fair was Universal Picture’s merchandise preview for their upcoming films Minions and Jurassic World. Jurassic World is set to storm theaters on June 12 and Minions opens July 10th. Product for both movies will hit stores everywhere on May 1st.
Hasbro’s Jurassic World offerings were covered during the Hasbro Toy Fair presentation, but I had a chance to play with the Chomping Dino Head Hand Puppet and it’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that I’ll be buying one of those. Of course Hasbro has some amazing dinosaur toys planned including the Jurassic World playset which your Indominus Rex can rule.
Lego is another key partner for Jurassic World with a number of sets planned with prices from $20 to $130. And if the sets aren’t enough to satisfy your Lego dinosaur needs, you’ll be able to play Lego Jurassic Park on the PC and all the major gaming consoles.
Minions promises to have a huge product line….between interactive electronic figures to shoes, you’ll be able to find the perfect Minion toys. A few things that caught my eye during my preview were the interactive figures by Thinkway toys…so much fun and these are packed with play features. Thinkway Toys will also have a line of blind bagged Minion ‘surprise pack’ figures – these will build on your collection from Despicable Me 2.
Hasbro returns as the master gaming partner with Minion inspired versions of Life, Trouble, Monopoly and Operation set to bring some Minion madness to family game night. And, of course, Play-Doh’s getting in on the fun with a few Minion playsets on the way.
Finally MegaBlocks is the official construction partner for Minions and have a number of movie inspired sets and blind bagged figures on the way.
