Thoughts: First up – these two figures were priced at $10 flat at Toys R Us. Struck me as weird, most everything at Toys R Us ends in .99.
As part of the Mission series, both Han and Chewbacca are the 5 point of articulation figures…well, four useful ones for Chewie. I’ll admit, I like these figures. The Mission Series Vader is one of my favorite Star Wars figures I’ve bought in years. I grew up with the original figures and these just have the same nostalgic feeling to them. So yes, these have few points of articulation and I’m ok with that.
Where Han and Chewie do misstep is with the deco; Han seems too pale and Chewie’s fur is way off. I can overlook Han, perhaps he’s been in the ice caves of Hoth too long…but Chewie’s a tougher pill to swallow. I think Adam Pawlus is right, Chewie is so close to perfect, yet frustratingly far from it.
Each figure included a weapon, which both of them hold quite well. Be warned, Chewie’s bowcaster is held together by clear rubber bands – I can’t imagine that holding up long under play. If you’re a parent best to break the glue out right away.
Summary: These are nice, basic figures of Han and Chewbacca. Some collectors will dig them, others won’t…but for $10 for 2 figures, it’s tough to be too disappointed. Except that Chewbacca isn’t brown enough. That’s disappointing. I would buy a 2nd one if the color gets corrected!
