Banpresto, today unveiled the Banpresto World Figure Colosseum 2018 (BWFC) work-in-progress figures from this year’s contestants. This step in the process of modeling and creation gives a preliminary look at what the figures will look like before the finishing touches and paint are applied. Consumers will be able to view the final painted figures at one of the many events and cast their vote to decide the winner of the coveted Fan Award.
“It’s extraordinary to see the amount of sculpting talent in the world,” said Norihiko Sakata, Development Director, Banpresto. “While our in-house sculpting team is renowned for the amazing work they do on our main toy lines, every contestant here brings an exciting level of creativity and uniqueness to the Dragon Ball Z and One Piece characters. We are incredibly excited to see who will win this year’s competition.”
The BWFC is an annual competition featuring the world’s best figure sculptors as they pit their skills against each other with their sensational creations based on Dragon Ball Z and One Piece characters. This year, eighteen world-class sculptors — from all over the world — have been selected to represent their country as they compete for over $25,000 in prize money. Additionally, every sculpture in the contest is made into official Banpresto figures.
