One of the first Toy Fair events I went to this year was Jakks Pacific’s inaugural collector’s preview event, which I wrote up while I was in New York. While at Toy Fair, I did have a chance to pop in their showroom and see the other cool products they’re offering this year that weren’t at the collector’s preview (and it also gave me a second chance to stare longingly at their 48″ Darth Vader).
Highlights of what I saw was a continuation of their miWorld line with a new movie theater playset (think of the photos that could be taken with this!), a remote controlled Mario Kart that converts to from a kart to a ‘hovercraft’ and the 3D Character Creator – which was so cool it get’s its own paragraph.
The 3D Character Creator is a very cool system that will let kids (young and…less young) design, create and customize their own action figures. This toy uses wax sticks and an internal skeleton to make articulated figures. Licenses planned include the Avengers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and DC Comics. I was really impressed and look forward to seeing more about this one!
