Video games are a huge part of pop culture, and have become a huge part of Christmas. The twist for this video game entry in the AwesomeToyBlog gift guide is that there’s not a single actual video game on it. This edition is dedicated to products supporting your favorite games.
Let’s start with the Nintendo fan. JAKKS Pacific has a great line of 4″ scale figures – available characters are Yoshi, Mario, Wario and Link. In-scale with these are 6″ Donkey Kong and Bowser. I’ve got a few of these and they’re fun and they’re around $10 each. You can pick these up at Target, Toys R Us and, of course, online.
Next on my list of video game gift guide are Mega Bloks’ game themed construction sets. They have sets based on Halo, Call of Duty, World of Warcraft and Assassin’s Creed. Personally I’m a fan of their Call of Duty sets – one of my favorites is the Odin Space Station strike. Or you could opt for the Zombies Horde – how could you go wrong with that? If you want to see the whole range of Mega Bloks video game lines, hit up Toys R Us.
The last recommendation for the video game edition of the gift guide is ideal for the classic gamer. NECA’s got an amazing line of 8-bit inspired video game figures. These feature decos based on the game, meaning you have some pretty awesome paint schemes on these figures. If that wasn’t awesome enough, the figures come packaged in boxes that are inspired by the original game packages. The newest, and hottest figures is the 1989 Batman figure – he’s got an incredible sculpt and a fantastically accurate purple / blue color scheme. He’s fantastic. Other figures available include Robocop, and a Predator. Again, Toys R Us is your best bet for finding these in stores.
