Los Angeles, Calif. – October 8, 2013 – tokidoki, the global pop culture brand, is thrilled be a finalist in the 3rd -Annual Designer Toy awards. Sponsored by Clutter Media Group, the ceremony will take place at the Hudson Terrace in New York this Saturday, October 12, 2013.
Released in Holiday, 2012, the tokidoki 5” vinyl DIY Unicorno which comes with three tokidoki character Sharpies® – Adios Black, Bruttino Blue, and Stellina Magenta is nominated for ‘Best DIY Platform.’
Nominated in the ‘Best Mini-Series’ category is the Unicorno Series 2. Released in Holiday, 2012, each 2” PVC Unicorno is sold in a blind box promoting collectability of all 11 characters.
tokidoki’s third nomination goes to its creative director Simone Legno, nominated for ‘Artist of the Year.’ Drawing since childhood, the boxes of chewed, broken and unsharpened pencils Legno adored then were the beginnings of a passion for art. Simone showcased his art via his personal portfolio online (tokidoki.it) which caught the attention of his co-founders Pooneh Mohajer and Ivan Arnold, as they immediately knew that Simone’s art would translate onto consumer goods in an unprecedented, iconic fashion. In 2003, with their support, Simone moved to Los Angeles and in 2005, the now internationally renowned brand tokidoki was born.
