2013 is a huge year for Doctor Who, the acclaimed series celebrates it’s 50th anniversary! We here at AwesomeToyBlog HQ couldn’t be more excited and to celebrate we are taking this week to shine a light on some of the new products available from Bif Bang Pow! Today’s item is the the action figure of Sutekh, the villain of the classic 4th Doctor episode ‘Pyramids of Mars’.
Sutekh, partnered with Leela make up the 3rd series of retro figures. Sutekh joins the 4th Doctor, the Master, the Cyberman and the Sontaran Styre and is among the best of the figures released yet. It looks like some lessons were learned from the first two series of figures, resulting in a vastly improved third series. The cloth costume is fantastic with a significant amount of detail for something that is essentially a black robe with some red trim. This would have been an opportunity to take a few short cuts and simplify the costume, but I’m thrilled they weren’t taken. Sutekh’s mask is also quite good, properly scaled to the body, well detailed and perfectly painted. Perhaps the only request I could make for this figure, and it is a bit unreasonable, be that it include light-up eyes…lifted right out of the episode. But barring any electronic additions, this Suhtekh figures is one of – if not the best yet of Bif Bang Pow!’s retro range.
