Before we hit the Q&A; let me pass along a message from Hasbro: It’s a very exciting time for Star Wars as the extraordinary Target exclusive Vintage 9-pack will be going on sale soon (Nov. 28th). There are two important things to note with this set. First, this set will be more limited than some of our other recent exclusives. Second, Target (and we) are so excited about the Vintage collection overall and these 3-packs that we have decided to keep this “collection within a collection” idea going at Target. Another wave of 3 3-packs will be coming in Spring and like these, they follow the Vintage character lineups. We think this an exciting development, and thanks to Target’s support, hopefully fans will be treated to even more in this series. Thanks again for the support and be sure to get to Target soon. Happy Holidays – the Hasbro Star Wars team.
1) The smaller scale used in Mini-muggs really works for those figures, can we expect to see a 2nd wave of Star Wars Mini-Muggs?
We’re glad you like them – the smaller they get, the cuter (and more collectible) they seem. Right now we are looking at a second wave sometime in late ’11 or early ’12.
2) With wave 5 of the Vintage Collection, waves will no longer be themed; can you provide some insight into the motivation to move away from the themes?
We have been listening to collector input for some time on their response to the themed waves. It seems that not all collectors actively collect all movies from the Saga, and as such, they may have had reason to skip waves entirely. In order to keep folks engaged on a year-round basis, wave in and wave out, we decided to spread figures from each movie out more evenly. Also, it has become hard to develop really strong waves for each movie, so by spreading it out, it enables us to deliver a better *overall* line rather than a line trying to balance each wave.
