Figure of the Day 30 – Thunderball

Thunderball

Series: Marvel Universe; Secret Wars Comic Packs
Release Date: 2009
Comments: After a long run of figures at a 5″ scale, then 6-7″ scale for Marvel legends; HASBRO has moved the Marvel universe to their popular 3 3/4″ scale. Following the sucess of Star Wars and G.I. Joe comic packs, Marvel packs are a natural fit; these being comic book characters and all that. For their first venture, HASBRO chose the 12 issue limited series “Secret Wars”.

Comic pack #3 (featuring Secret Wars #3) includes your friendly neighborhood Spider-man and Thunderball. I will admit that I had to do some research before writing this post – I’ve always known who Thunderball was; but knew very little about him. I just figured he was a strong dude who used a big ball as a weapon. Turns out I was more or less correct, except he is also a genius and has been enhanced by Asgardian magic. With those details out of the way, lets turn to the figure.   This is a figure that I like, the body is not only well articulated but it is also sturdy.  When fiddling with him, I’m not worried about ripping off his hand.  I also like the fact that his neck seems normal, this is something that bothers me with other figures in this line (that’s you Wolverine). Thunderball has a nice clean deco and an awesome accessory.  Thunderball is the stand out figure of this comic pack.  See a pic of Thunderball and Spidey after the jump.
