Usagi Yojimbo SDCC Exclusive From Playmates?

Things have been pretty quiet on the SDCC front, but tonight I have a pretty solid rumor of a Playmates Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles SDCC exclusive Usagi Yojimbo figure. From the Stan Sakai facebook page comes news of an exclusive figure with three interchangeable heads and a comic book. Expect this to be available at the Nickelodeon booth, as several Playmates TMNT exclusives have been hosted there over the past few years.

Toy Fair 2015 – Playmates’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

tf15-tnPlaymates Toys today host their collector’s event for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brand. Easily one of the hottest lines in stores today, the team over at Playmates isn’t a cruise control, they’re finding fun new ways to grow the brand.

The largest new segment is the T-Machines die cast vehicles. With both cars and playsets, your favorite Turtles characters are getting some sweet new rides. The other segment getting some adorable attention is the Half Shell Heroes, Turtle toys intended for younger kids.

Of course, the bread and butter of the line remains the basic figures, vehicles and playsets. There’s a ton of new additions to the line, all of which you can see in the gallery below.

SDCC 2014 – Playmates TMNT Panel

SDCC 2014 logo bPlaymates’ TMNT panel is one of my favorites at SDCC. Members of the panel have been working on the brand since the very beginning, as a result you get some fantastic insight into the line.

Below you’ll see the slides used in Playmate’s presentation – big reveals in today’s presentation were a new ‘Mutations’ play pattern, more Classics (Shredder and Krang) and new younger-skewing toys. Check them all out below!

More Pics and Details of Playmate’s SDCC Raphael

SDCC 2014 logo bWhile I’m eating my oatmeal here in the AwesomeToyBlog HQ, I have some follow up on one of my favorite exclusives announced yet this year – Playmate’s SDDC black & white Raphael that will be available at the Nickelodeon booth. He will be priced at $30 during the show. Enjoy a few more pics below including shots of the packaging and a clear shot of the back with text.

Playmate’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Toy Panel Announced for SDCC

SDCC 2014 logo bWith less than two weeks to go before the big show kicks off, details of the SDCC panels have begun to be sent out. Today Playmates sent over details of their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles panel. I went to this panel last year and it was one of my favorites. This panel is a little special since it features the ‘Team Green” – the Turtle design team at Playmates, some of whom have worked on the brand over 30 years starting with their original debut. The panel will provide insights to upcoming toys and host a Q&A session with the fans. You get some really great insight during this Q&A, largely due to the experience the panel has with the brand. This one is highly recommended.

The panel will take place on Friday, July 25th at 2PM in room 23ABC.

Toy Fair 2014 – Playmates’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

tf14 tnThis evening Playmates Toys hosted a collectors event, showcasing all the latest and greatest TMNT toys, including product from the upcoming movie. No photos were allowed of the movie product, but I will say that I don’t think you need to worry about the Turtle designs!

There was a ton of cool new stuff for the cartoon line as well, including a few new waves of basic figures, new 90’s movie Collector’s turtles and a brand new Turtle Blimp.  That’s right – the second most popular vehicle in the classic TMNT line is back and is just as big and just as awesome as the original.

One other new item that really caught my eye were the ‘Zip Line Attack’ sets.Using command adhesive, you attach a playset to one wall…and connect it to a second piece with a string and your Turtles can slide down the line…unlocking action features when the hit the bottom. These sets easily connect together so you can get a whole network of zip lines going. These were super-cool in action and kids (both older and younger) are going to love them.

Check these, and all the Turtle items out in the gallery below.
