It follows our hero, Koji Kabuto, in an action-packed adventure where only he can choose his ultimate path! Ten years ago, the villainous scientist Dr. Hell led his wicked followers, known as the Underground Empire, in a struggle to destroy all of humanity. It was against these forces that the young hero Koji Kabuto fought, piloting the legendary super robot “Mazinger Z.” Koji’s victory stopped Dr. Hell’s evil plan and returned peace to the Earth. Now Koji has left the pilot seat behind and become a scientist in his own right, following in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps. Yet an unexpected encounter deep under Mt. Fuji triggers an even greater threat to mankind than ever before and alters Koji’s destiny forever. With humanity’s fate in their hands, Koji and Mazinger Z face a choice between good…and evil.

The Power of the Daleks is one of the most celebrated Doctor Who adventures, and yet no complete film recordings are known to have survived. The master negatives were destroyed in an archive purge in 1974. This brand new animation, being released 50 years after its only UK broadcast, is based on the program’s original audio recordings, surviving photographs, and film clips. The six-part adventure features the regeneration – or as it was then called “renewal” – of First Doctor, William Hartnell, into Second Doctor, Patrick Troughton, and follows the Time Lord and his companions Polly (Anneke Wills) and Ben (Michael Craze) as they do battle with the Daleks on the planet Vulcan.
“Ahead of the premiere on BBC AMERICA, it is a rare treat to be able to bring the lost episode, Power of the Daleks, to life using modern animation techniques. Doctor Who cinema events have been incredibly successful, and this is extraordinary opportunity to allow a new generation of fans the opportunity to experience this classic adventure for the first time,” said Soumya Sriraman, EVP, Franchise and Digital Enterprises, BBC Worldwide North America.
“We’re pleased to continue our long-standing and successful partnership with BBC AMERICA to bring more fantastic Doctor Who content to the big screen,” said Fathom Events Vice President of Programming Kymberli Frueh. “The Whovians are always one of our biggest and most passionate groups of fans at the cinemas.”
Doctor Who: The Power of the Daleks is produced and directed by Charles Norton, with character designs from acclaimed comic book artists Martin Geraghty and Adrian Salmon.

Fathom Entertainment announced two sci-fi events which will be shown in theaters across the country. I’ve become familiar with Fathom Entertainment’s showings as a result of their Star Trek: The Next Generation screenings which celebrated that series’ Blu-Ray releases. Seeing ‘The Best of Both Worlds’ on the big screen was a once in a lifetime experience – and was incredible. Today’s announcements were screenings of the 50th Anniversary Doctor Who special – ‘Day of the Doctor’ and ‘Rifftrax Live: Santa Claus Conquers the Martians’

Just a pair of reminders for the Trek fans out there, first up is that Star Trek: The Video Game has been released this past Tuesday. You can see the launch trailer below and get yourself busy busting some Gorn heads together.
The other big event this week is Fathom Event’s theater screening of ‘The Best of Both Worlds’. Find a theater near you with the screening here! And remember that the Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 3 and ‘Best of Both Worlds’ Blu-Rays are available April 30th.

Here you can assimilate yourself and become a Borg and then insert yourself into one of nine different Borg scenes from Star Trek: the Next Generation. When Fathom Entertainment, CBS Home Entertainment and IGN first announced the theater showings of Star Trek: The Next Generation in theaters to celebrate the release of ST:TNG on Blu-Ray, I thought ‘Wow, wouldn’t it be awesome to see Best of Both Worlds on the big screen?’. With the third season of Star Trek: The Next Generation due to be released on Blu-Ray April 30th, the special, one night only, theater screening of the epic two-parter The Best of Both Worlds’ has been announced for April 25th. In addition to the episodes, the screening will include clips from ‘Regeneration: Engaging the Borg,’ a behind-the-scenes look at the making of ‘Best of Both Worlds’.
This is going to be a fantastic event, and if you have any fondness for ST:TNG, you have to check this out. Go here for a list of all the participating theaters. Tickets are available now from participating theaters and online at www.FathomEvents.com. The trailer and some ‘before and after’ pics are below and, after the jump, read the entire press release announcing this event and the 3rd season Blu-Ray release of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
A few months ago, right before the release of the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation on Blu-Ray, NCM Fathom Events had a special screening of two episodes in select theaters across the US. I had the opportunity to attend this screening and had a fantastic time at this unique opportunity to see TNG on the big screen. With the release of the second season on Blu-Ray on December 4th, I’m thrilled that there’s going to be a similar screening featuring the season 2 episodes “The Measure of a Man” and “Q Who”. Even more special, the screening of “The Measure of the Man” will be the debut of a new cut of the episode with an additional 12 minutes of footage. This screening will take place on November 29th, and you can find more details here at fathomevents.com.
