Toy Fair 2015 – Titan Merchandise

tf15-tnTitan Merchandise is best know for their blind boxed Doctor Who vinyl figures, but at Toy Fair this year, the attention was on the new properties they’re releasing this year. Their display case contained the upcoming Aliens, Breaking Bad, Buffy and Ghostbuster vinyl figures. They also announced that Sherlock vinyls would be coming this year, but they aren’t ready for their debut. See all the new lines in the gallery below.

Titans Merchandise Announces Two New Series of Vinyls – Buffy and Dragon Age

Titan Logo TNWhen I woke up this morning, there was an email from the folks at Titan Merchandise that was so good, I was pretty sure I was still dreaming. This morning they announced a series of vinyl collectibles based on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This set of 12 vinyls includes all the core cast – Buffy, Willow, Xander, Oz, Giles, Faith, Angelus, Spike, Drusilla, the Mayor, the Master and Buffy as a vampire. There will also be 4 chase vinyls – one of which is probably a regular Angel (and maybe Spike and Drusilla). Each figure is right around 3″ in size and includes a character specific accessory and are blind boxed. These should be available in January 2015, a perfect way to start a year of collecting amazing stuff – these are simply fantastic.

Then awhile after I woke up, saw the Buffy announcement was real, a second announcement popped in my inbox – the Dragon Age Heroes of Thedas collection. Collecting characters from across the series, this range includes Alistair the Grey Warden, the ‘Witch Of The Wilds’ Flemeth, Fenris the elven warrior, even a Mabari War Hound – and of course a Dragon! Each figure is 3″ blind-boxed and some come with a character specific accessory and like Buffy there are 12 different characters with 4 chase. These are due out in December.

First wave of Buffy ReAction Figures Revealed

BuffyLogo2Ok, I’m actually a couple of weeks late on this news, but thanks to Adam Pawlus, I’ve found where Funko President Brian Mariotti has confirmed that the first wave of Buffy ReAction figures will consist of Buffy, Willow, A Gentlemen from Hush, Spike, Angel and Oz.  While no details or pics are yet available, it’s at least something concrete to dream about. Expect more details out of New York Toy Fair, which is quickly approaching.

Sideshow kicks off Buffy the Vampire Slayer Spike statue pre-orders

Sideshow Toys kicked off pre-orders today for the 4th in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series of polystone statues.  Up next on deck following Faith is villain-turned-hero Spike. Due in Q1 of next year, this statue features Spike perched on a pedestal – ready to attack.  The Sideshow Exclusive version of this figure features a second “vamped” out head.  This statue is now available for pre-order at $259.99, with a flex pay option.  Head over to Sideshow to check out all the details.

Figure Spotlight #8 – Buffy (lead miniature)

Buffy Lead StatueOk, I’ll admit that I’m cheating today by calling this a figure spotlight.  Even the most creative use of the “figure” definition would be stretched to include this Buffy statue.  Buffy is a lead miniature which was the first in a collectible series of figures and magazine originating from the UK.  These types of magazine / statue series are fairly common with other series includes Star Wars ships, Star Trek ships and Marvel characters to scratch the surface.  I picked up a Buffy and an Angel at last year’s Phoenix Comic-con.

Standing at just 3 1/2 inches, this is my second smallest Buffy in my collection.  For a statue of this size, I’m quite pleased at the likeness.  It is almost a definitive Buffy, being lifted right from the series 3 premiere episode ‘Anne’.  The statue’s pose is well done, implying action without being in a contorted action pose.  The paint ops, while fairly simple and limited, are sufficient.  Being a solid piece of metal, there are no point of articulation at all.  For what it is, a low cost small statue, I’m really satisfied with this Buffy and if you’re a fan, this series of figure / magazines are worth hunting down.  And yes, the picture isn’t really doing it justice…the eyebrows aren’t quite as pronounced in person.

Sideshow Toys announces 2 new Buffy Premium figures; Willow and Faith.

Willow Statue In last week’s Sideshow Toys newsletter a new premium format Buffy figure was announced; and visiting their site revealed their plans to do a both a Willow and Faith figure.  A full preview of Willow will be posted on their site today, with a pre-order date of Thursday.  No dates are posted for Faith yet, but I’m excited regardless to get some companion pieces to this year’s “Throne of the Slayer”.  Check out the pic below!

Buffy’s Back at Sideshow

Sideshow Toys’ has announced they are returning to Buffy after an all too long break.  The Buffy maquette will go on pre-order next week.  Click here to see the teaser image, and be sure to watch the video.  It shows the full prototype as well as some sketches for future maquettes.  No details on pricing are provided.

Figure of the Day 14 – Graduation Day Buffy Summers

Buffy Summers (Graduation Day)

Series: Sideshow Toys’ Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Release Date: 2005
Comments: There have been many Buffy figures in many different scales, but Sideshows’ 12″ offerings are among the strongest. For the first Buffy feature, I’ve chosen the Chosen One herself, Miss Buffy Anne Summers. This release was Sideshow’s second stab at the slayer. The first 12″ Buffy was a solid figure, but the sculpt, outfit and odd skin tone made that figure fall a little short of excellent.  Here in her Graduation Day outfit, the shortcomings of the first figure are gone.  She is rocking a great head sculpt, with a likeness much closer to Sarah Michelle Gellar.  I can’t say anything bad about this one, of all the Sideshow Buffy releases this is my favorite, followed closely by the first Angel figure they issued.  A “close-up” shot of Miss Summers is after the jump, just because she’s that great.
