Funko Announces 8-bit TMNT and Horror Pop!s

Funko keeps on showing the versatility of the Pop! format with the introduction of ‘8-bit’ Pop!s. Designed to look similar to 3D versions of classic video game sprites, this new Pop! line is kicking off with the TMNT and several horror icons.  These will all be released in January.

The 8-bit Turtles will include each of the four turtles, Donatello, Leonardo, Michaelangelo and Raphael. The horror series will include Freddy, Jason and an Alien. Look for NES version of Freddy and Jason exclusive to GameStop and a bloody Alien exclusive to Previews.


Playmates Toys Offers SDCC Exclusive Usagi Yojimbo and Metallic Voltron

Playmates is providing two sets of SDCC exclusives and they’ve sent over full details and pictures. Available from Toys R Us (at the Entertainment Earth booth) will be die cast versions of the Voltron lions and a deluxe Usagi Yojimbo at the Nickelodeon booth. DreamWorks Voltron Metal Defender Collection from Playmates Toys

Voltron fans can add to their collection with this assortment of Voltron figures from Playmates Toys in premium diecast. Assortment includes fully articulated figures of the Blue, Red, Black, Green, and Yellow Lions.  Collect all five diecast lions to combine to form an 8-inch articulated Voltron figure. The detailed figures are first available from Toys“R”Us at San Diego Comic Con in the Entertainment Earth booth (#2343) from Wednesday, July 19 – Sunday, July 23, and online at from Thursday, July 20 – Sunday, July 23.  The figures will also be available at Toys“R”Us stores and other retailers nationwide later this year.


Samurai Rabbit Usagi Yojimbo Figure from Playmates Toys

In Nickelodeon’s 2017 Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the samurai rabbit Usagi Yojimbo will reunite with the Ninja Turtles once again for a three part story arc that airs beginning July 23, 2017.  A limited edition of the 2017 Usagi Yojimbo new character design action figure, with limited samples available and sold exclusively at San Diego Comic Con, will be offered for $30 each from Thursday to Sunday (July 20-23) at Nickelodeon’s booth, #4113.

Nickelodeon Reveals SDCC Exclusives: Nick Box, Toast Man, Usagi and More

NECA Debuts Joint SDCC / Alien Club Exclusive ‘Pizza’ Alien

NECA followed their SDCC exclusive TMNT set with the announcement of their next SDCC exclusive – a yellow Alien, which will be of interest to both Alien fans and Turtle fans. Officially the Alien’s bio reads:

Deep in space, something is happening at a remote Weyland-Yutani scientific outpost! The terrible coincidence of a power outage and a deep space radiation has created a new Xenomorph… one that’s right at home in the pipes and tubes of the station’s sub-levels. The Sewer Mutation Warrior Alien stands over 9″ tall and features over 30 points of articulation and a bendable tail.

Of course, this yellow Alien is an homage to the ‘Pizza’ Alien from the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon, making this the perfect figure to buy along with your Turtle box set. The ‘Pizza’ Alien will be priced at $30 and will be available at SDCC and to Alien Club Members.  The alien will not be available during the SDCC pre-sale.

NECA Announces Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles SDCC 8 Pack

The folks at NECA have been doling out the teasers for a few days now, but today they made it official with the debut of their first SDCC exclusive – an 8 figure Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle set packaged in its own themed carrying case.

For this year’s turtles, NECA has taken inspiration from the cartoon and these have an animation inspired deco and accessories. This set includes all four Turtles, Shredder, Krang and a pair of Foot Soldiers.

This set will retail for $200 and will be available for pre-order for both attendees and non-attendees of the show. They will be available at

Usagi Yojimbo SDCC Exclusive From Playmates?

Things have been pretty quiet on the SDCC front, but tonight I have a pretty solid rumor of a Playmates Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles SDCC exclusive Usagi Yojimbo figure. From the Stan Sakai facebook page comes news of an exclusive figure with three interchangeable heads and a comic book. Expect this to be available at the Nickelodeon booth, as several Playmates TMNT exclusives have been hosted there over the past few years.

Funko Releases Clockwork Orange Pop! Vinyl, New TMNT and Marvel Pen Toppers This September

funko logoFunko sent over a pair of updates late last week which included the announcement of the release of the Alex DeLarge Pop! vinyl from the Stanley Kubrick classic film ‘A Clockwork Orange’. This Pop! is available now at a store near you (or on the internet).

The other news item of note was the announcment of a September release for new Pop! Pen toppers featuring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Marvel characters (Loki, Thor, Venom, Daredevil). You’ll be ready for school with these on your pen!

Nickelodeon’s SDCC Items Showcase the Best of Today and the 90’s

Action Figures

The collection of action figures inspired by the film includes Basic Action Figures, 6-inch Battle Sounds Figuresand 11-inch Action Figures. In addition to being highly detailed, fully poseable and uniquely sculpted to capture the personalities and distinctive appearance of the Turtles, allies and villains in the movie, each figure comes equipped with its own unique accessories.

The 5-inch Basic Action Figures include the four Ninja Turtles–Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo–as well as Stealth Leonardo, Pirate Michelangelo, Wingsuit Raphael, April O’Neil, Bebop, Rocksteady, Casey Jones, Foot Soldier, Kraang, Splinter and Shredder. Other action figure assortments include the 11-inch Action Figures and the 6-inch Battle Sounds Figures, which feature a button on the figure’s backpack that triggers up to ten sounds and phrases from the movie. Each of the movie-inspired Cycles includes an exclusive action figure and unique ninja action. As seen in the movie, the Turtle Tactical Truck is full of awesome foot fighting gear including giant nunchucks that can be deployed as the vehicle rolls, a capture net and ninja stars that can be launched to give the Turtles an edge during battle. The truck also features a working forklift and is designed to hold all four Ninja Turtles.


Standing over 40-inches tall, the City Sewer Lair Playset is packed with Turtle action, including an oven-styled pizza disc launcher, water slide entrance that is seen in the movie and more.  With over 15 features and multi-levels to play, kids can recreate all of the Turtles’ best battles from the movie in play areas including Splinter’s mediation area and Raphael’s gym.

The Technodrome Playset opens to over two-feet wide and is packed with play areas. It includes two missile firing projectile launchers, a secret entrance and trap door slide that drops enemies into a jail.

With the new assortment of role play gear, kids can easily mutate into their favorite Turtle from the film. TheConceal & Reveal Weapons offer the ultimate battle surprise, as kids can push a button to reveal the powerful weapon and then conceal it by pushing it back into the handle. The Extreme Battle Shell is ready to protect kids in any battle and includes a front and back shell for maximum coverage and adjustable straps. To help complete the transformation, Deluxe Masks are also available in a variety of characters.

Young heroes can also train to fight like Leo with Leonardo’s Electronic Battle Sword.  The sword features two play modes, over 50 phrases and sound effects, and it also glows in three different colors during battle.

Movie Additions to Other Collectible Segments

Kids can add to their T-Machines collection with the new movie-inspired T-Machines Single Pack Vehicles.Perfect for racing through sewers, each 1/50 scale fast-rolling die-cast vehicle features flashy rims and an action-posed, non-removable Turtle character who is driving the vehicle.

A variety of movie-inspired T-Sprints Single Pack Figures and Vehicles have been added to the T-Sprints collection. An innovative figure and wheels play pattern, the highly stylized, mini T-Sprints, which reflect the Turtles’ appearances in the movie, feature a unique flywheel so kids can rev them up, drop them into a vehicle shell and watch them sprint into action.

The 2.5″ Mini Figures, which will be available this fall, are the perfect collectible for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans.
