Mezco is expanding their Batman Mez-itz product line with several new products all due in April of next year.  Inspired by urban vinyl and similar to Mighty Muggs – Mez-itz are stylized vinyl figures where the figures are all based on the same body with the paint deco distinguishing the characters.  The upcoming product includes:

• 2in Mini Mez-itz 4 pack – including Batman, Joker, Scarecrow and 2-face
• 2in Mini Mez-itz Batman and Tumbler vehicle based on the Batman Begins vehicle
• 2in Mini Mez-itz Batman, Joker and Bat-Pod vehicle – packaged in a collectible window box
• 6in Mez-itz Batman and Joker 2 pack – packaged in a double sided window box allowing you to see both the front and the back of the figure

Earlier this week both Warner Bros.  and DC announced that the existing licensing agreement with Mattel will continue with a new multi-year agreement.  Enveloped in this agreement are toy lines for the upcoming theatrical events; the Dark Knight Rises (July 20, 2012) and Man of Steel (June 14, 2013).  The agreement allows all of Mattel’s properties (Hot Wheels, Barbie, etc) access to DC properties similar to the SDCC Carol Fenris Barbie or the Hot Wheels’ Invisible Jet.  In addition to movie product, toy lines in support of both DC animated series will also be on shelves; Young Justice (already in stores) and Green Lantern: The Animated Series.  The Green Lantern series launches November 11th on Cartoon Network.

Matty announced their second ‘Mad Matty Monday’ sale would be kicking off Monday, October 10th at 9 a.m. PT (12 p.m. ET) and run through Monday October 17th at 8 a.m. PT (or until stock runs out). The ‘Mad Matty Monday’ sale gives collectors the chance at a “blind box” of MattyCollector.com product. For $40 you get 3 random items with a value greater than $60. There are three themes available for this next sale; a Masters of the Universe, a DC Universe and a Ghostbusters box. These sets sold out super fast in the previous sale with items ranging from Masters of the Universe weapons packs up through 12″ Superman figures. If you think this sale is for you, be sure to be prompt!

Funko sent an update on their upcoming Blox, a new vinyl figure line.  These figures, which debuted at SDCC, are stylized blockey figures.  As with their Pop! vinyl line, Funko has a great set of licenses lined up.  Among the first to launch are the DC Universe Blox, featuring Batman and the Joker which are due December 19th.  Also due that same day is a Blox inspired by the legendary rock band Kiss.  Starting up the new year are Blox figures of the General Mills cereal monsters; Count Chocula, Boo Berry and Frankenberry are set loose January 2nd.  Future Blox releases include the Star Wars line, Marvel Comics, Disney, and several other liscenses.  Check out the figures below and pre-order online at Entertainment Earth.

Our good friend Matty posted quite a news post yesterday – you can see all the details over on the MattyCollector site; but here’s a quick rundown of the key points.

• Club Infinite Earths, Club Eternia and Club Lion Force are all re-opening to subscriptions starting Friday, September 16th.  This final opportunity runs through October 3rd.
• A special subscription is being offered for the MOTU 30th anniversary celebration; these six special figures will be released approximately every other month in 2012.  The first of these is Fearless Photog, the second is Draego, three others remain unannounced and the final will be the winner of the “design a figure” competition.  In the subscription figures will be priced at $20 each.
• Across the board – the day of sale figures will cost more than the figures cost in the subscription.  For Club Infinite Earths; a $20 subscription figure will cost $23 day off..and a $30 oversized figure will cost $45 on the day of sale.  Details of the “day of” prices for the other clubs haven’t been shared yet.
• Attempts are being made to combine shipping of subscription products and things bought “day of”.

That’s the general round up; I do wish they had announced a single figures only Masters of the Universe subscription, I would have picked that up in a heartbeat!

Other MattyCollector news of note – the DC Universe subscription (Club Infinite Earths) failed to reach 100% of its sales quota; but despite that – the club will go forward.  To compensate for the less than desired number of subscriptions sold; figures sold on the day of Matty sales will be priced several dollars higher than had a subscription been purchased.  Here’s hoping that the club is a success going forward, that both those who purchased a subscription and the cherry pickers are happy in the end.

As everyone’s enjoying this Labor Day weekend, I just had a quick update on some new products on the way from Funko.  Their universe may have been rebooted, but Wacky Wobblers of Batman, Superman and the Joker are set to be released the first half of October.  Once the boys have had their chance in the spotlight, a Wonder Woman Wobbler ships two weeks after – just in time for Halloween.

Even tough guys like Chuck Norris become immortalized in bobble form; due at the start of December this talking bobble head includes Chuck Norris phrases such as:

• Chuck Norris makes onions cry.
• Chuck Norris doesn’t wear a watch; he decides what time it is.
• Chuck Norris doesn’t breath; he holds air hostage.
• Chuck Norris beat the sun in a staring contest.
• You win some; you lose some. Chuck Norris wins ALL.
• Chuck Norris is not afraid of death; death is afraid of Chuck Norris.

And finally, due out this week – the great Cornholio will be released as a talking Wacky Wobbler.  His phrases include:

• Are you threatening me?
• Where I come from we have no bungholes.
  
• I am the great cornholio.
• I need T.P. for my bunghole.
• You will give me T.P. bungholio.

After the final extension of the subscription period, a few new pieces of news have come out of the Matty camp this week; and its a mixed bag.

• Masters of the Universe subscriptions did meet the threshold, but are at their lowest level yet. As a result the number of figures available for non-subscriber “day of” sales will be more limited then originally expected.  Interestingly, one of the reasons cited by Matty for limiting availability was to keep some demand on the secondary market.
• One of the most requested items this year was the ability for subscribers to “add on” the additional 30th Anniversary figures to their subscription, it looks like this will be available in time to catch 5 of the 6 figures.  The first, Fearless Photog, will be out before this capability will be added and will only be available on the day off.  This “add on” will only be available to existing Club Eternia members.
• Another new capability that is pending for Digital River, the company that handles the MattyCollector.com infrastructure is the ability to combine subscriptions purchased at different times.  If you ordered the Club Lion Force subscription when they were first made available and are now considering Club Eternia, around March you’ll be able to combine these into one order – saving you in shipping.  This is something that had been impossible to do in the past.
• The DC Universe Club Infinite Earths subscription is hanging out just below 50% with a few days left.

A new batch of Funko images arrived in my inbox today, and I couldn’t be happier; as I’m a huge fan of the product Funko is putting out in the market.  If you’re not familiar with their Pop! vinyl line, you have to swing by your local Target store and check out the Marvel, DC and Star Wars lines; they’re easy to find as they are right in the action figure aisle.

The new product in today’s email blast were 2 Halo bobble-heads, celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the gaming franchise; the red Spartan Mark V and the blue Commander Carter. These bobbles are due in just a few weeks, on September 1st.  The line-up for the 2nd series of Star Wars Pop! vinyl was also revealed to include Jedi Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, C-3P0, Boba Fett, Darth Maul and the Gamorrean Guard.  These will be available November 10th.  Finally from the DC Universe, the Pop! vinyl Hawkman will be available November 24th.  You can see images of all these new products in the gallery below, and if you want pre-order many of these items at Entertainment Earth.

The deadline for subscribing to any (or all) of Matty’s 2012 collector’s clubs has been extended one last time.  Any orders for the clubs must now be placed prior to Monday, August 22nd at 11:59 PM Pacific.  This is roughly one month after the subscription period opened.  At the time of writing, the DC Universe club Infinite Earths was just over 40% sold; at this point there will need to be a mad rush of subscribers to make this club come to fruition.  Or Matty could change the rules.

Two new Matty updates today!  First up; the DC Universe subscription, Club Infinite Earths is 71% shy of its goal to make it to production.  Matty has decided to keep the subscription period open an extra week giving the club every chance to hit its goal.

On the Masters of the Universe subsciption, the fine folks at MattyCollector realized their quota club costs for the year missed $80 worth of figures; so a subscription now runs $510 + shipping/tax/fees for the full run  – which does not include any 30th anniversary figures.

The Club Eternia, Lion Force and Ecto-1 subscription period ends tomorrow.
