Giant LEGO Bowser To Debut at SDCC as First Stop on World Tour

For the first time ever, the LEGO Group is unveiling an incredible king-sized build of LEGO Mario and LEGO Luigi’s nemesis – LEGO® Super Mario™ The Mighty Bowser™ – at San Diego Comic Con. LEGO Super Mario fans of all ages can now marvel at the King of the Koopas in all his powerful glory as part of the Nintendo booth (#235) on the show floor.

The whopping build – measuring an impressive 14-feet – is credit to the hugely successful and ever-growing LEGO® Super Mario product line. First launching in partnership with Nintendo in 2020, the range features some of the most iconic and popular figures of the Super Mario™ franchise, including Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach. In fact, the king-sized creation of Bowser pays homage to the smaller, more manageably sized LEGO Super Mario The Mighty Bowser, which will be on sale from October 1st.

The final build is an impressive feat with 662,872 bricks used and 3,290 hours spent bringing the beloved character to life. Operated by a control panel, the model’s arms, head, eyes, eyebrows and jaw all move and are accompanied by sound effects and background music.

“Bringing The Mighty Bowser to life in this unique representation was the natural choice and very much in line with what we offer in LEGO Super Mario,” said Federico Bagher, Head of Global Marketing at the LEGO Group. “In our theme, we bring together interactivity and brick building. The same can be said of this king-sized version of Bowser, who is as ferocious as he is fun. With its movements and sound effects, this massive build is one of our most interactive to date, and one that we absolutely loved building. We’re excited to share it with everyone at Comic Con this year.”
