AwesomeToyBlog’s Holiday Gift Guide Day #2 – the Reader

With the holiday season now upon us, it can be difficult to find the right gifts for the fan in your life. Now in it’s second year, the AwesomeToyBlog Awesome Holiday Gift Guide is my opportunity to spotlight some fantastic products that make perfect gifts. Today we’re looking at some action figure themed books for the reader in your life.

If you have a Star Wars fan in your life, the Star Wars: The Ultimate Action Figure Collection book is perfect – it’s brand new, so it’s the most up to date reference guide and they’re sure to not have it. The book also features contributions by two prominent online contributors – Dan Curto and Paul Harrison. If I didn’t already have this book on order, I’d love to find it under the tree.

My second book recommendation is for fans of Funko’s awesome Pop! vinyl line – the World of Pop! book. I’ve been a fan of the line since I saw that first Batman, and picked up this book as early as I could at SDCC. Featuring gorgeous, full page, photography – this book documents the first few years of the line including all the retired and chase figures. Even if you’re not sure the person you’re shopping for is a Pop! fan – if they like Star Wars, Marvel, Disney, or toy photography – they’ll love this book.

My final book recommendation is a fantastic collection of Action Figure photography – Art-Toys by Brian McCarty. As someone who dabbles in action figure photography, I love to see other people’s images and having it in a coffee table book is just so posh. The back of the book features a thorough ‘behind-the-scenes’ section so you can see all the work that goes into setting up these amazing photos. You might even pick up a few new tricks!
