Weta sent out a press release detailing their SDCC plans and detailed their two exclusive items, both based on the upcoming Hobbit movies. The first is their Thorin Oakenshield with shield 1:6 scale polystone statue. Priced at $249, with a limit of 2 per person, this piece is limited to 700 pieces, 500 for sale at SDCC and the remaining 200 for sale at the Weta Cave in New Zealand and at Ring*Con.
The second exclusive is an art print by Weta Workshop Conceptual Designer Gus Hunter titled ‘An Unexpected Journey’. There will be 100 signed copies available at a price of $60 each and 400 unsigned copies ($50). There’s a limit of 2 prints per person.
At the show Weta will be unveiling their initial range of collectibles and prop replicas based on the upcoming films, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (December 2012) andThe Hobbit: There and Back Again (December 2013).
